Turn parcel dimensions into checkable volume
Multiply three sides for cubic centimetres; divide by 1,000 for litres.
Use one unit
Convert all sides to centimetres first. Volume equals length times width times height. The result is cubic centimetres; one litre is 1,000 cubic centimetres.
Distinguish volume from capacity
External volume is the geometric space occupied by a parcel, not its useful content capacity. Walls, cushioning and voids reduce internal space.
Keep intermediate figures
Record the three sides and their product for review. Two parcels with equal volume can have different longest sides, so shape limits need a separate check.
